Welcome to Bat Rescue of Southern California. We are located in San Diego County, but can help bats in southern Orange or Riverside Counties as well. If you are in Southern California, immediately call 858/679-0211. If you're too far away from us, Bat World Sanctuary's Local Rescue page has a US map which shows bat rehabbers by state. If you can't find help there, let us know and we will try to find a qualified bat rehabilitator in your area who can help you and the bat.
If you have found a downed bat don't touch it with your bare hands. Using leather gloves or a thick cloth, gently put the bat in a small box with the cloth (so it has somewhere to cling and hide), cover and keep it away from children and pets. Place the box somewhere warm, dark and quiet if possible.

Bats have very specific dietary requirements, and should only be cared for by trained, rabies-vaccinated rehabilitators familiar with the various bat species and the nutritional profile of each species. If you're interested in volunteering or helping bats, Bat World has a lot of good information about how to get involved with hands-on bat care.

If you have bats somewhere they shouldn't be, we can help you with humane exclusion advice. If you want to keep the bats nearby to control mosquitoes and other insect pests, (and don't want the bats to be homeless) we can help you relocate the bats to a bat house.

We are licensed to do educational presentations about bats for public organizations, using bats which can't be released back to the wild.

Remember - if a bat is downed or injured, it may be sick.
NEVER touch a wild mammal with your bare hands.
